Apple Cheese Torte

1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c. flour

8 oz package cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
5 to 6 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
lemon juice
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and flour.. Blend well. Press
mixture into the bottom and 3/4 of the way up the sides of an 8 or
9" springform pan.

Beat cream cheese. 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla and egg. Pour over crust.
Combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon and a little lemon juice.
Mix well. Pour apple mixture over top of cheese mixture and sprinkle
with almonds. Using a spoon, push crust down on sides to become
even with apples.

Bake at 450 for 10 minutes and then at 400 for 25 minutes. Serve
warm or chilled.
